Poland Part 2

These first few pictures are cute ones I had to share. Most of them Laura took, so I'm not really sure when they were, but they just had to be included! Aly was always the star of whatever show was going on. Kim and Aly The boys, Aiden, Asa, Andrew. Beautiful blue eyes. Someone was making balloon animals - the kids loved it! No words are necessary for something this cute. Kurt and Kendall Kula are another missionary couple in Radom. They are not with International Messengers, but they helped us a lot with the workshop, and we all enjoyed spending time with them and their kids. This is Rebecca, the youngest. On Saturday after the first week, the team went to Krakow for a day of sightseeing and relaxing before starting the second week. Last year we took a train, but when we learned that the only train to Krakow that day left at 3:30 in the morning, we decided to rent a bus. We still had to leave around 6:00 I think, but that wasn't too bad. Aly slept most of the way there. Veronika and I on the bus. This castle in Krakow. Paulina, Ryan, and I. We had climbed up to the castle and were waiting for others to catch up. Paulina is on of our students/translators and she came with us to Krakow. The cathedral by the castle. It's free to go in and look at the cathedral, but you have to pay to go through the castle. Ryan, Andrew, Sara (our main translator), and Paulina went through the castle together, but Veronika and I decided that we didn't want to pay for that, so we walked downtown and did some shopping together. The courtyard was free to look at too :-). After Sara and Paulina finished in the castle, they met Veronika and I at McDonald's. Here's Paulina and Veronika. Me and Sara. It was a little chilly and windy that day, so I was going to get a hot chocolate, but the McDonald's that we went to didn't have hot chocolate, so I got a cappuccino. I knew it would probably be a little more coffee-tasting than I wanted, but I wanted something warm, so I went for it. The guy at the counter must have known I was American because he gave me six packets of sugar. The sad thing is, I used four. Veronika and I dropped some coins into this mimes bucket and asked to take our picture with him. After everyone was done shopping, we all met for supper at the restaurant Sioux. This is the same restaurant we went to last year. It's decorated in an American Old West theme. Paulina and I. Sara and I. The menu from the restaurant. Tim ordered this; I think it's a mocha or something. I thought it was pretty. Tim and Amos were having a boxing match while we were waiting for our food. Andrew ordered a hot chocolate. As you can see, the chocolate is really thick, almost like a pudding. My potato pancakes with sugar. I got the same thing last year, and they were just as good. Andrew's lasagna. Ryan's ribs. He thought I was just taking a picture of his food. After supper, we had about an hour before we were going to meet at the bus, so Sara, Paulina, Ryan, Andrew, Veronika, and I went to get ice cream. There is just nothing like Polish ice cream. I had chocolate and Snickers. After church on Sunday, we went back to that restaurant that we went to on Tuesday for lunch. The centerpieces are sprouting onions. Gary and Jo. My potato pancakes with sugar. Yes, these things are amazing. After lunch, we went to the Snyder's to plan the English workshop. Yep, she's just adorable. On Monday morning, we all met at the school early to get ready for the workshop. I brought my colored pens and everyone used them to make their name tags. Kim making her name tag. Ryan taking a picture of me taking a picture of Ryan taking a picture. Sara making her name tag. The boys hanging out at the school. I walked over to them and asked if I could take their picture. Andrew, on the right, said, "Not today, thank you." But Asa piped up: "You can take a picture of me!" Sara, Veronika, and I on the first day. For our large group game time that first day, we played the human knot game. We also played the key game. In the key game, one person starts out with a ring of keys in one hand, and calls another person. That person holds the hand of the first person and calls another person. As more and more people are added, they try to get as tangled up as possible. Whenever they want, the first person who is holding the keys, drops them and then everyone has to run back across the line. The first week we were there, I stayed with Bob and Vera at their apartment, but for the second week, I had the opportunity to live with Sara and her family in their apartment. It was so much fun to get that extra time with her. Monday was Valentine's Day, and when we got home, Sara's dad gave both of us flowers. How sweet!
